Sunset Bash Announces Big Break 2025 Winner – Liam Maihi – Ahead of Third Annual Country Music Festival

Penrith, NSW – Sunset Bash Country Music Festival has officially crowned Liam Maihi as the Big Break 2025 Winner, cementing his place among Australia’s next generation of country stars. Liam will join a stellar line-up at the 3rd annual Sunset Bash on Saturday, 20 September at The Backyard, Panthers Penrith.

Liam Maihi has been turning heads on the country music circuit emerging artis with his soulful voice, heartfelt storytelling, and growing fanbase. After scoring a Grand Final place on The Voice 2015, Liam took a break to raise his small family, although the lure of country music proved too strong.  His breakout single “Whiskey & You” has quickly become an audience favourite securing airplay on country music platforms like Kix and ABC Country,. The catchy ear-worm showcases Liam’s raw honesty and knack for modern country songwriting while staying true to the genre’s roots. 

Winning Sunset Bash’s Big Break gives Liam the opportunity to return to performing on the main stage and share the bill with some of Australia’s biggest names including Brad Cox.

“I’m so honoured to be named the Sunset Bash Big Break Winner for 2025 and pumped that I get to share my music with a festival crowd alongside artists I’ve looked up to for years.” Liam said upon discovering he had taken out the top spot.

This year’s Sunset Bash Country Music Festival promises an unforgettable day of live music, entertainment, and country culture. The 2025 line-up is headlined by Brad Cox, with powerhouse performances from Amber Lawrence, Jeremy Turner, Tori Darke, Linc Phelps, Abbie Ferris, Ali S, Felicity Kircher,  and high-energy country-banger sets from DJ Cass.

Beyond the live music on stage, festival-goers can enjoy:

  • Free line-dancing sessions with Kristen

  • Fashion stalls from retailers including The Wilde Gypsy, Western Country & Co, OutWest Country, Serving Up Country, Buddha Treasures, Country Trucker Caps and Home of the Custom Cattle Tag

  • A live smoker display and corn hole games by Western Sydney's food kings Brisket Boys BBQ 

Hosting duties will be shared by Brisbane funny-man and reality TV personality Ryan Gallagher alongside country artist Missy Lancaster, bringing a lively mix of humour and homegrown music knowledge to the stage.
